Jules' Knee
(199-something – Monday Night, 8:17pm-ish)

In Loving Memory of Jules' Knee

Monday Night. Under the lights. Over the limit.

On an otherwise ordinary Monday, Jules took his place in goal — a volunteer, a visionary, a man who believed in his joints. The pitch was damp. The stakes were nonexistent. The confidence? Astronomical.

The floodlights flickered. The AstroTurf glistened with the sweat of past poor decisions. And there stood Jules: hands on hips, knees gently flexing, radiating the confidence of a man who had watched at least three professional matches on television.

Then it happened.

A shot thundered in. Jules launched himself with all the grace of a startled wardrobe.

The attackers celebrated. The defenders hung their heads in disbelief. The first goal of this game was in. The best performance of all time between the two teams finally had a scoreline.

And then, from the turf itself, came the immortal words:

"I'M NOT JOKING!"

Reader, he was not.

Jules' KneeJules' Knee

Those three words rang out across the pitch — not as banter, not as theatre, but as prophecy. For when a grown man abandons sarcasm mid–five-a-side, you know something structural has left the chat.

Witnesses say his knee briefly attempted early retirement. Ligaments packed their bags. The ACL entered the witness protection program. The patella filed a missing persons report.

The score? Irrelevant.
The save? Debatable.
The declaration? Historic.

Jules remains with us — brave, braced, and now aggressively stretching before walking downstairs. His knee, however, has ascended to that great physio table in the sky.

We remember it not as it was, but as it bent — faithfully, recklessly, and once too far.

Rest in peace, Jules’ knee — no more heroic dives, no more sudden lateral movement, just a stubborn refusal to cooperate on command. It’s traded clean sheets for compression sleeves, match-winning saves for dramatic creaks, and a life of bending on demand for a permanent, very opinionated stiff. We’ll honor it with laughs, better warm‑ups, and the occasional ceremonial ice pack.
